aPRIL 2019 - pRESENT
While looking for a new position, I stumbled upon Havens Orthodontics. From the outside looking in, it seemed to be an orthodontics office that uses new technology helping speed up the orthodontic experience and making it easier for the patients to complete there treatment. While reviewing the company I saw it was family ran and both the owners are Alumni from my high school. I applied for a 3D print technician after speaking with Alex Piper I was hired in to start operating our Envisontec SLA 3D printer. For preparing models we use a software made by 3Shape called Ortho-Analyzer and Appliance designer to remove brackets virtually creating usable 3D models, used to create clear retainers impression free. After using the software I was able to complete the day by day task with ease utilizing our online script service EasyRx. With EazyRx we are supplied with work everyday and is a very effective way to create a list of work and understanding the strict deadlines you need to meet in the dental field. When finished creating the models we use our printer to quickly produce a physical model used by the lab technicians to create retainers and other orthodontic appliances. After the print is complete we send every model through a 2-step Isopropyl alcohol bath removing extra material from the models. Once rinsed off we expose the models with 2 minutes of intense UV rays. After the models are marked they are given to the lab to create the final product. Working at Havens Orthodontics it exposes me to a handful of new equipment like SLA 3D printers and orthodontic spot welders. Working at Havens I am able to be a great team player and get experience I couldn't find anywhere else!
